Clip around the edges and construct this painless DIY

A passport offers an incomparable sense of freedom. The moment you first lay hands on yours, you're imbued with the sense that you can go anywhere and do anything. Of course, with that sensation also comes the overwhelming fear that you might lose this critical document while abroad or before a big trip, so it's critical you find a way to keep track of it.
If you're not keen on simply throwing your passport into a wallet or purse but you don't want to ruin your jet-setting aesthetic with a tacky carrier, then this project is the perfect happy medium. Boasting a modern leather look with practical convenience in spades, this DIY project is a must for every world-traveling crafter.

Instructions
1. Place the two leather strips on a flat surface.
2. Place the first three paper templates on one strip of leather and the remaining two templates on the second strip. Cut out all the pieces.
2. Place the section that is 5 1/2-by-3 5/8 on top of the piece that is 7 7/8-by-5 1/2 so one of each of the strips' 5 1/2 sides matches up. The good sides should be facing each other. Clip the strips together with quilting clips.
3. Sew the three edges together with the sewing machine, leaving the interior edge of the smaller section open to create a pocket.
4. Turn over the combined section so the back faces up. Measure halfway across the sewn 5 1/2-inch edge on the back, and clip the 1-by-5/8 section to the middle of that edge so most of it extends beyond the wallet. Sew it in place.
5. Place the 5 1/2-by-3 and 5 1/2-by-3 3/4 sections on top of one another, with the larger section on the bottom and the good sides facing out.
6. Clip around the edges, and sew vertically down the middle of the two pieces, stopping where the smaller section ends.
7. Lay the larger, previously sewn section flat, and place the newly sewn section on top of the bare side, opposite the 3 5/8 pocket added in step 3.
8. Attach the section sewn in step 6 to the larger piece with clips, then sew around the edges, leaving the tops open to form more pockets.
9. Fold the entire creation in half like a book, so the bottom 7 7/8 strip of leather is halved, and all of the pockets face each other on the inside.
10. On the open 5 1/2 side without the leather strip sticking out, measure halfway across, and mark it with a pencil.
11. Create a hole at that mark with the leather hole punch.
12. Install the leather stud screw through that hole, and fold the 1-by-5/8 strip from the other side over, marking where it hits the stud.
13. Create a hole at the mark so the strip can serve as a closure.
14. Make sure that the new hole allows the stud to fit through easily, using scissors to enlarge the hole slightly if necessary.
