Buy plastic straws at the store and copy this lovely DIY you can hang anywhere in the house

Decorating for a party can be overwhelming and take the fun out of the party. Not only is there the task of picking a theme or color palette, but then you have to find some way to make that vision happen. Luckily, if you have some plastic straws, colored tape and string, you're one step closer to a good time with loved ones minus the stress.
Garlands are a fabulous way to enhance your party place and add cohesion by complementing all your decorations. Instead of spending hours searching for the perfect one, why not make a few yourself? This project is so easy, even the youngest child could do it — and a colorful garland could also be a fun way to add color and life to their room.

Instructions
1. Apply a strip of painter's tape around one end of a plastic straw. Below that strip of tape, apply another. Repeat until there are four strips on the straw. Trim the uncovered straw below the painter's tape.
2. Cut lengthwise about 2/3 up the straw from one end, repeating so you have several cuts and a fringe effect on the bottom 2/3 of the straw. Bend the fringe pieces out so they flare a little.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 with 10 more straws. We used two colors of tape, ending with six of one color and five of the other.
4. Use a needle and thread or string to thread your straw pieces on, pulling the thread through the uncut portion of each straw.

5. Thread all your straw pieces, and position them with equal distance between them.
6. Once all your straw pieces are threaded on the string, make a loop and knot at both ends of the string. Hang as a simple and fun decoration for your next party.
