Collect a flannel shirt & copy this idea

A flannel shirt is made of warm, cozy fabric, enough to get attached to, warm enough and cozy enough to repurpose into a neck scarf. This project is ideal for shirts that have fallen from fashion, are too small, or were acquired from a dear father or boyfriend. The instructions use the basic form of a flannel shirt to develop a scarf with surprising style and minimal effort. No special skills are needed.
For someone with a little creativity, the arms of the shirt could be turned into matching armbands with thumb holes or even laces. Or, the remaining fabric from the arms of the shirt could be made into a matching tam. Have fun with this project, and keep warm.

Instructions
1. Button the shirt, and lay it face up on a flat surface.
2. Using the seam ripper, remove the pocket, being careful not to cut into the shirt.
3. Mark a line across the front of the shirt starting just below the sleeve and using the ruler to ensure the line is straight.
4. Make another line across the front below the first at the last point before the shirt tapers into “tails.”
5. Cut along the marker lines, cutting through the front and back to make a square shape.
6. Unbutton the buttons to lay out the rectangle.
7. Fold the fabric up from the bottom, making a long rectangle.
8. Pin all along the loose edges.
9. Sew along the long edge.
10. Turn inside out, revealing the buttons on the edge of a long tube.
11. Button the buttons on one side through the buttonholes on the other, creating a circle.
12. You can wrap the scarf a few times around your neck to wear it stylishly with the buttons in front.
