Illuminated Canvas Frame with String Lights
Materials
Canvas frame (size of your choice)
A string of Christmas lights (LED recommended for safety, length will depend on canvas size)
Pencil
Awl or small drill
Tape or cable clips
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Battery pack (if using battery-operated lights)
Directions
Lay the canvas frame face down on a flat surface.
Using a pencil, sketch your desired pattern for the lights on the back of the canvas. Plan where each light will poke through.
With the awl or small drill, carefully poke holes where each light will go, following your pencil marks. Make sure the holes are just large enough for the lights to fit snugly.
Insert the lights into the holes from the back, ensuring each light bulb is pushed all the way through to the front of the canvas.
Tape or clip the light string to the back of the frame to keep it secure and in place.
Use a hot glue gun to secure any loose wires if necessary, being careful not to melt the wires.
Connect the lights to a power source. If using a battery-operated string, secure the battery pack to the back of the frame.
Turn the canvas around and admire your work – but resist admiring the reverse side!
Mount your illuminated canvas frame on the wall using picture hooks or another appropriate hanging method.

Variations & Tips
To create variations of this DIY, consider using different colors or styles of lights, such as white lights for a classic look or multicolored lights for a playful touch. You can also experiment with different canvas sizes and shapes to fit your decor. For a more artistic approach, paint the canvas before adding the lights to create a multi-dimensional piece. Alternatively, use stencils to create precise designs or create 3D effects with thicker canvases. Personalize further by adding embellishments like glitter, fabric, or small ornaments around the edges for added sparkle and texture.
