Everything old is new again! From unused PVC pipe to a mirror with retro midcentury modern circle and starburst elements, "Thrifty and Chic" blogger Alicia creates a stunning piece of wall art. This project truly follows the page's mission of "DIY decorating ideas for the home ... and doing it as thrifty as possible." (And we just can't get over how chic Alicia manages to make PVC pipes look!)
PVC pipes — a staple of plumbing supplies — often make their way into multiple DIY arts and crafts projects, including planters, furniture accents, wine racks and toothbrush holders. Widely available at most hardware stores in varying sizes, the pipes provided an easy way to design with perfect circular shapes.

This blogger used PVC pipes left from a lawn sprinkler project, as well as hot glue.
Using a miter saw to cut through a mark placed every 1/2 inch down the pipe, the DIY guide created about 80 circles.
Although she later regretted not painting the circles first, she was able to hide any pipe markings with smart design arrangement before she began hot gluing the circles together in her desired pattern. She then glued a mirror from a local craft store in the pattern's center.

While the design is a new addition to the blogger's entryway, it brings to mind a midcentury style when circular patterns covered many homes' mirrors and clocks.
"After World War II, design evolved from Art Deco and Streamline Moderne to Mid-century Modern, which reigned from the mid-1940s until the mid-1960s," the website Collectors Weekly states. "No corner of the home was untouched by this new, casual, atomic-era aesthetic, including furnishings and accessories such as clocks."
