To start this project, all you'll need are some jars, small flags, and Mod Podge. However, you can use your own creativity to add your own flair to the project, so feel free to experiment on your own!
Simply remove the small flags from their sticks (careful not to rip the flags) and use the Mod Podge to adhere them to the jars. If you're having trouble, you can use double-sided tape to keep the flag in place.
Melissa also added some twine to the top of the jars. If you don't have twine, you could also use baker's twine. The blogger uploaded more photos and explained additional tips for customizing the luminaries on her website.
Stick in a tealight candle and you're done! These little lights are perfect for summer, but with a little ingenuity they can be tailored for any season. For example, jars with frosted glass make perfect luminaries for winter months. Don't be afraid to experiment!
