Lace doilies are nice to have around to protect your table from water stains, but what do you do with them when you have too many, you don't really like them, or it's time to toss them out? This fun project from DIY Everywhere is a great way to reuse the traditional doily in a truly unique way.
When you're finished, you'll have an attractive bowl you can use as decoration or to store smaller items. This project requires a few hours to dry, so make sure you set up a safe space before you get started.

Directions
1. Strain dry cement mix into a metal bowl; the strainer helps remove lumps so it's easier to mix. Then add bonding. You'll want to have 5 parts cement for each part bonding (try 2½ cups cement with ½ cup bonding).

4. With gloves on, dip your doilies into the cement mixture, completely coating the doily with cement. Lay your coated doily over the bottom of a bowl.
Tip: If you don't have bowls, try a small balloon, coated with oil. The bowl or balloon will help your doily bowl keep a round shape.

5. Allow your doilies to dry overnight before peeling them away from your container.

6. Give your bowls a splash of color by coating them with your choice of spray paint.

You can use these bowls to hold pins, magnets, hair ties or other small items at home. You probably should not use these to serve food, but they'd be perfect for small, wrapped candies!
