DIY Textured Artisan Vase
Materials
Thrifted clear glass cylinder vase
2 cups of fine beige beach sand
Mod Podge or clear-drying craft glue
Paintbrush
Disposable bowl or container for mixing
Newspaper or drop cloth for workspace protection
Directions
Clean the thrifted glass vase thoroughly to remove any dust and grease. Ensure it is completely dry before starting.
Lay down newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your workspace.
Pour 2 cups of fine beige beach sand into a disposable bowl or container.
Using a paintbrush, apply a generous layer of Mod Podge or clear-drying craft glue onto the surface of the vase, working in sections.
While the glue is still wet, gently sprinkle or pat the sand onto the glued areas, ensuring an even coverage.
Allow the glue and sand to dry completely. This may take a few hours.
Once dry, gently shake off any excess sand that didn't adhere.
Optionally, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge over the sand to seal it, making sure to let it dry completely before handling.
Variations & Tips
For a more colorful variation, consider mixing in a small amount of colored sand or fine glitter with the beach sand before application. This can add a subtle sparkle or hint of color to your vase. Alternatively, experiment with different patterns by applying the sand in stripes or sections, or use a stencil to create a design. For a more rustic look, you can use coarser sand or even small pebbles. Remember to adjust the amount of glue and drying time accordingly.
