Incorporating nature into home decor has always been a popular trend, especially with the rise of indoor plants and succulents. This DIY project combines rustic charm with modern functionality to create magnetic succulent planters using wine corks and neodymium magnets. These tiny planters can be attached to your refrigerator or any magnetic surface, adding a touch of greenery to your kitchen or any room in your home. This project is perfect for those who love to recycle and upcycle, turning everyday items into something beautiful and useful.
These magnetic succulent planters are a stylish and versatile addition to any kitchen. They bring a pop of green to otherwise plain surfaces and can be arranged in various patterns or designs. Consider grouping several planters together for a lush, cohesive look, or spacing them out for a minimalist touch. They can be placed on a refrigerator, a metallic backsplash, or a magnetic board, making them an adaptable piece of decor that can be easily rearranged or moved.
DIY Magnetic Succulent Planters

Materials
Small round neodymium magnets (0.5 inch in diameter)
Wine corks (cleaned and dried)
Hot glue gun with glue sticks
Small screwdriver or corkscrew
Mini succulents or air plants
Potting soil (optional)
Small paintbrush (optional, for cleaning)
Directions
Use a small screwdriver or corkscrew to carefully hollow out the center of each wine cork, creating enough space to fit a small succulent or air plant.
Clean any dust or debris from the hollowed-out cork using a small paintbrush or by gently tapping the cork upside down.
Heat up the hot glue gun and apply a generous amount of glue to one side of a neodymium magnet.
Quickly press the glued side of the magnet onto the backside of the wine cork, ensuring it adheres securely. Allow it to dry completely.
Once the glue is dry, gently insert a mini succulent or air plant into the hollowed-out section of the cork. If using potting soil, add a small amount to help stabilize the plant.
Repeat the process for additional corks to create a collection of magnetic planters.
Arrange your newly made planters on a magnetic surface, such as a refrigerator or metallic backsplash, in a pattern that suits your style.

Variations & Tips
For a different look, consider painting the wine corks in various colors to match your kitchen decor. You could also use decorative washi tape to wrap around the corks for added flair. If you prefer, substitute mini succulents with small faux plants for a maintenance-free option. Experiment with different magnet sizes if you want to use larger or heavier corks. This DIY can also be adapted using other small containers, like bottle caps or small tins, to create a variety of mini planters.
