Creating a bird feeder from simple materials like red clay saucers and a jar not only adds a charming touch to your front porch but also invites the sweet chirping of birds to your home. This DIY project is perfect for those who love to repurpose everyday items into something both functional and decorative, bringing a touch of rustic elegance to your outdoor space.
The DIY bird feeder can be styled as part of a rustic or farmhouse-themed porch decor. Pair it with wooden furniture, potted plants, and other natural elements like wicker baskets or a vintage watering can to enhance its quaint appeal. For a cohesive look, consider using other clay or terracotta accents throughout your outdoor space.
DIY Clay Saucers Bird Feeder

Materials
1 glass jar (approximately 6-8 inches tall)
2 red clay saucers (approximately 8 inches in diameter)
Strong waterproof adhesive or epoxy
Twine or rope (for hanging)
Bird seed
Directions
Clean the jar and clay saucers thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion.
Apply a generous amount of waterproof adhesive around the rim of the jar.
Firmly press one of the clay saucers onto the top rim of the jar, ensuring it is centered and secure. Allow the adhesive to dry completely according to the adhesive instructions.
Once dry, flip the jar so the saucer is on the bottom, acting as a base.
Apply adhesive to the bottom of the jar and attach the second clay saucer, creating an overhang for birds to perch on. Let it dry completely.
Wrap twine or rope around the neck of the jar or create a loop for easy hanging.
Fill the saucer with birdseed and hang the feeder in a suitable outdoor location, such as under a porch or from a tree branch.

Variations & Tips
For a more colorful variation, consider painting the clay saucers with outdoor-safe paint in vibrant hues or patterns before assembly. You can also use jars of various shapes and sizes for a unique look. If hanging is not an option, place the bird feeder on a flat surface like a table or a ledge. Additionally, you can decorate the jar with twine or small decorative elements to match seasonal themes or personal style.
