DIY Sparkling Garden Stepping Stones
Materials
60 smooth green glass pebbles
3 cheap plastic cake pans (8 to 10 inches in diameter)
Quick-setting concrete mix (enough for 3 pans)
Water (as needed for concrete mix)
Mixing bucket
Trowel or spatula
Protective gloves
Directions
Prepare your workspace with all materials at hand and put on protective gloves.
Mix the quick-setting concrete according to package instructions in a bucket, adding water gradually until you achieve a thick, moldable consistency.
Pour the mixed concrete into the cake pans, filling each approximately halfway.
Smooth the surface of the concrete with a trowel or spatula.
Arrange 20 smooth green glass pebbles on the surface of each pan in a pattern or randomly, pressing them gently into the concrete so they are embedded but still visible.
Allow the concrete to set as per the manufacturer's instructions, usually between 24 to 48 hours.
Once fully set, gently remove the stepping stones from the plastic pans by flexing the pans or cutting them away if necessary.
Place the stepping stones in your garden in the desired location.
Variations & Tips
For a different look, consider using glass pebbles in various colors or even mixing colors within each stone for a mosaic effect. You could also experiment with different shapes by using molds other than cake pans, such as square or hexagonal shapes. If you prefer a more rustic look, incorporate natural stones or shells along with the glass pebbles. For added texture, try stamping designs into the concrete before it sets.
