Creating an organized and functional garage space can significantly enhance your home's utility. This DIY project focuses on constructing a sports ball holder using elastic bungee cords and tall wooden frames. Not only does this solution provide a practical storage solution, but it also adds a touch of creativity and tidiness to your garage. The project is straightforward and ideal for those looking to maximize space and reduce clutter.
This sports ball holder can seamlessly integrate into any garage with a modern or industrial design aesthetic. The use of wooden frames gives it a rustic touch, while the elastic bungee cords add a contemporary flair. Consider placing it near the entrance of your garage or next to your other sports equipment for easy access and a cohesive look. Opt for natural wood finishes or paint the frames to match your garage's color scheme for a unified appearance.
DIY Sports Ball Holder

Materials
Two tall wooden frames (approximately 6 feet tall and 2 feet wide)
Elastic bungee cords (approximately 8-10 cords, 3 feet each)
Wood screws (1.5 inches long)
Drill
Measuring tape
Pencil
Level
Directions
Position the two wooden frames parallel to each other, approximately 2 feet apart.
Using the measuring tape and pencil, mark the positions where you will attach the bungee cords on each frame. Space the marks evenly, leaving about 6 inches between each mark.
Drill pilot holes at each marked position on both frames.
Attach one end of a bungee cord to the top hole on one frame using a wood screw. Ensure it is securely fastened.
Stretch the bungee cord across the space to the corresponding hole on the opposite frame and secure it with another wood screw.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the remaining bungee cords, ensuring they are taut but not overly stretched.
Use a level to ensure the frames are vertical and make any necessary adjustments.
Once all cords are attached and the frames are stable, your sports ball holder is ready to use.

Variations & Tips
To personalize this DIY project, consider using colored bungee cords to add a pop of color to your garage. For a more sophisticated look, opt for stained or varnished wood instead of raw wood. If you have a variety of sports equipment, you can adjust the spacing of the bungee cords to accommodate different ball sizes or add additional rows to accommodate more items. For smaller spaces, consider reducing the width of the frames, or for ease of movement, attach wheels to the bottom of the frames for a mobile storage solution.
