DIY Crochet Bunny Planter Cover
Materials
1 cracked plastic gallon milk jug
White boucle yarn (approx. 200 yards)
Size J/10 (6.0 mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Pair of googly eyes
Pink felt (for the nose)
Cotton balls (for the tail)
Directions
Cut off the top of the milk jug, leaving about 6-7 inches of the bottom intact to serve as the base for the planter.
Using the crochet hook and white boucle yarn, create a slip knot and chain stitch until you have a row that wraps around the jug's circumference.
Join the ends of the chain with a slip stitch to form a loop that fits snugly around the jug.
Start crocheting in rounds using single crochet stitches to cover the sides of the jug, working from the bottom up. Continue until the jug is fully covered.
For the bunny ears, crochet two identical ear shapes using the same yarn. Start with a chain of 10, then single crochet in each chain, decreasing at each end to form an ear shape.
Attach the ears to the top edge of the jug using the hot glue gun.
Glue the googly eyes onto the front of the jug. Cut a small triangle from the pink felt and glue it below the eyes to form the nose.
For the tail, glue a cotton ball on the back of the jug.
Weave in any loose yarn ends inside the cover using the tapestry needle to finish the project.
Variations & Tips
Experiment with different yarn colors to match your personal style or home decor. Soft pastels like lavender, mint, or baby blue can add a fresh twist to the design. For a more rustic look, consider using natural jute or wool yarn. Additionally, embellish the planter cover further with small crochet flowers or embroidered details to make it uniquely yours.
