Upcycled Faux-Ceramic Soda Can Vases

Materials
35 aluminum soda cans, crushed
1 gallon of thick white wall spackle
1 medium-sized paintbrush
1 spatula or spreader
Sandpaper (medium grit)
White primer spray paint
Clear sealant spray
Directions
Collect and thoroughly clean 35 aluminum soda cans. Crush each can to create a flattened, textured surface.
Lay out the cans on a work surface. Using a spatula, cover each can with a thick layer of white wall spackle, ensuring all crevices are filled.
Allow the spackle to dry completely, which may take 24 to 48 hours depending on the thickness of the application.
Once dry, sand the surface of the spackle gently with medium-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges and create a faux-ceramic finish.
Spray the dried and sanded cans with white primer spray paint for an even base coat.
Finally, apply a clear sealant spray to protect the finish and make the vases weather-resistant.

Variations & Tips
To add a splash of color, consider mixing in a small amount of acrylic paint with the spackle before application, creating a marbled effect. Alternatively, use metallic spray paint instead of white to give the vases a more contemporary, industrial look. You can also experiment with different can sizes or shapes to vary the dimensions and styles of the vases, keeping the core structure intact.
