Transform your patio space with a rustic industrial touch by crafting glowing pendants from crumpled aluminum pie pans and chicken wire. This DIY project is perfect for those who love creative, upcycled decor and want to add a unique lighting feature to their outdoor area. The crumpled pie pans provide a reflective surface that enhances the glow, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for evening gatherings.
These pendants can be styled by hanging them at varying heights to create visual interest. Complement their rustic industrial look with wooden or metal patio furniture and soft textiles in muted tones like beige or charcoal. Use Edison bulbs for a warm, vintage glow, and consider pairing the pendants with potted plants and candles for an earthy, welcoming ambiance.
Rustic Industrial Pie Pan Patio Pendants

Materials
30 aluminum pie pans
Thick metal chicken wire (1x1 inch grid, approximately 3 feet by 3 feet)
Wire cutters
Protective gloves
Hanging light cord kit with Edison bulb
Pliers
Directions
1. Lay out the chicken wire on a flat surface and measure a 2-foot diameter circle. Cut the circle using wire cutters while wearing protective gloves.
2. Take one pie pan and crumple it lightly to give it texture. Repeat this for all 30 pie pans.
3. Begin weaving the crumpled pie pans through the chicken wire, starting from the center and working outwards. Secure each pan by bending the wire around it with pliers.
4. Once all pans are woven in, shape the chicken wire into a dome by gently bending the edges inward and creating a rounded form.
5. Attach the hanging light cord kit to the center of the dome, ensuring it is securely fastened. Insert the Edison bulb.
6. Hang the completed pendant from a sturdy hook on your patio, ensuring it is securely mounted to bear the weight.

Variations & Tips
For a more colorful variation, you can spray paint the pie pans in metallic hues like copper or bronze before crumpling them, adding a pop of color to the pendant. Alternatively, use different-sized pie pans to create a tiered effect, or incorporate clear Christmas lights woven through the chicken wire for a twinkling effect without the need for an additional bulb.
