Cork-Embedded Faux-Stone Stepping Stones

Materials
500 used wine corks
Heavy liquid gray cement (enough to cover approximately 10 square feet)
Mixing container
Shovel or trowel
Non-stick mold or frame for each stone (approximately 18 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep)
Protective gloves
Plastic sheet or tarp
Directions
Lay out a plastic sheet or tarp in your work area to protect surfaces from cement spills.
Arrange the wine corks in the non-stick mold or frame, ensuring they are evenly spaced. The corks should cover the bottom without overlapping.
Mix the heavy liquid gray cement according to the package instructions in a mixing container.
Pour the mixed cement over the wine corks in the mold, making sure all corks are fully submerged and the surface is level.
Gently tap the sides of the mold to remove air bubbles and ensure the cement fills all gaps around the corks.
Allow the cement to set according to the manufacturer's drying times, typically 24-48 hours.
Once dry, carefully remove the stones from the mold. The wine corks will remain embedded within the cement, creating a textured surface.
Place the finished stepping stones in your desired outdoor location, ensuring they are securely positioned on the ground.

Variations & Tips
For a more colorful appearance, consider painting the corks in various shades before embedding them in cement. Alternatively, you can experiment with different shapes by using molds of various designs, such as hexagons or rectangles. To enhance durability, add a sealant to the surface after the cement has cured, ensuring the stepping stones withstand the elements and maintain their appearance over time.
