Twine-Wrapped Tuna Can Spice Organizer
Materials
5 empty and clean tuna cans
Natural jute twine (approx. 50 feet)
Hot glue gun with glue sticks
Small piece of sandpaper
Wooden board (12 inches by 5 inches)
Screws and wall anchors
Drill
Screwdriver
Directions
Use sandpaper to smooth any sharp edges on the tuna cans.
Start at the bottom edge of each can and apply a thin line of hot glue. Press the end of the twine into the glue and hold for a few seconds.
Continue wrapping the twine tightly around each can, applying glue every inch or so to secure the twine in place. Make sure to cover the entire exterior of each can.
Once the cans are fully wrapped, cut the twine and secure the end with a final dab of glue.
Arrange the cans in a row or cluster on the wooden board, marking their positions lightly with a pencil.
Use the drill to create small pilot holes through the base of each can and into the board, being careful not to split the wood.
Secure each can to the board using screws, ensuring they are tightly fastened.
Install the board on your chosen wall using wall anchors and screws, ensuring it is level and secure.
Variations & Tips
For added functionality, consider labeling each can with small, rustic tags to identify the spices inside. Alternatively, paint the board with chalkboard paint for easy labeling directly on the surface. If you prefer a more colorful aesthetic, experiment with different colors of twine or paint the cans before wrapping them. You can also adjust the number of cans or the arrangement style to better fit your space or personal preference.
