Cement Noodle Yard Accents
Materials
6 foam pool noodles, each 48 inches long
1 bag of quick-setting cement mix (approximately 50 lbs)
1 gallon of water
1 utility knife
1 trowel
1 plastic tarp
Directions
Lay the plastic tarp on a flat surface to protect it from cement spills.
Use the utility knife to carefully slice each pool noodle lengthwise, creating two equal halves. Ensure the cut is as straight as possible.
Mix the quick-setting cement with water according to the instructions on the bag until it reaches a thick, pourable consistency.
Position the sliced pool noodles with the cut side facing up on the tarp.
Pour the cement mixture into each noodle half, filling them to the top.
Use the trowel to smooth out the surface of the cement, ensuring it is level with the edge of the noodle.
Allow the cement to set and cure as per the instructions on the cement bag, usually 24 hours.
Once cured, gently peel away the foam noodle to reveal the molded cement shape.
Place the finished cement shapes in your desired location in the yard.
Variations & Tips
For a more colorful appearance, add cement dye to the mix before pouring it into the noodles. Experiment with different colors to match or contrast with your garden's palette. You can also enhance the texture by embedding small stones or pebbles into the surface before the cement sets. For a more dramatic effect, consider varying the lengths and positions of the noodle molds to create a dynamic visual flow across your yard.
