Galvanized Tub Drink Station
Materials
1 large galvanized steel tub (approximately 24 inches in diameter)
1 rustic wooden plant stand (with a top surface large enough to support the tub)
1 jigsaw with a metal cutting blade
1 power drill with metal drill bit
1 circular drain kit (approximately 2 inches in diameter)
1 tube of waterproof silicone sealant
Measuring tape
Pencil or marker
Safety goggles and gloves
Directions
Place the galvanized tub upside down on a flat surface. Use the measuring tape and pencil to mark the center of the tub’s bottom.
Measure and mark a circle that matches the diameter of the circular drain kit in the center of the tub.
Put on safety goggles and gloves. Using the power drill, create a starter hole on the marked circle to insert the jigsaw blade.
Carefully cut out the circle using the jigsaw, following your marked line.
Smooth out any rough edges around the cut hole with a metal file or sandpaper.
Position the tub onto the wooden plant stand. Ensure it sits securely and the hole aligns with the stand's opening or surface where drainage is desired.
Install the circular drain kit into the hole from the inside of the tub, following the kit’s instructions. Seal the edges with a waterproof silicone sealant to prevent leaks.
Allow the silicone sealant to cure fully as per the manufacturer's instructions before using the drink station.
Variations & Tips
For a more personalized touch, consider painting the galvanized tub with weatherproof paint to match your patio decor. You could also add wheels to the plant stand for mobility, allowing easy repositioning during events. For enhanced durability, apply a clear sealant to the wooden stand to protect against outdoor elements. For a contemporary twist, substitute the wooden stand with a sleek metal frame, or use a vintage-style tub to amplify the rustic charm. Adding a small shelf beneath the tub can offer extra storage for cups or napkins, increasing its utility.
