Transform your deck with unique and vibrant accents by repurposing neon pink pool noodles and common garage items into faux-wrought iron railing designs. This DIY project is an innovative way to add a splash of color and personality to your outdoor space while reusing materials you might already have at home. Not only is this a cost-effective approach to home improvement, but it also allows you to personalize your environment with something truly eye-catching and custom-made.
Once completed, these faux-wrought iron accents will look stunning when mounted on a wooden deck railing. For a cohesive look, pair them with outdoor furniture that incorporates bold, complementary colors such as deep blues or contrasting pale yellows. Consider using additional decorative elements like potted plants or colorful outdoor cushions to enhance the vibrant aesthetic. The accents will stand out beautifully against natural wood tones or neutral deck stains.
Neon Pink Faux-Wrought Iron Railing Accents

Materials
3 neon pink pool noodles
1 can of black spray paint suitable for plastic
1 roll of heavy-duty wire (16-gauge)
1 pair of scissors
1 roll of painter’s tape
1 pair of heat-resistant gloves
1 heat gun
Directions
Cut the neon pink pool noodles into varying lengths, approximately 12 to 18 inches each, using the scissors.
Insert the wire through the center of each noodle piece, allowing the wire to extend about 2 inches out of each end.
Put on heat-resistant gloves and use the heat gun to carefully melt and soften the surface of each noodle piece, being sure to rotate them for even heating.
Once softened, twist and bend the noodle pieces into your desired wrought iron-like shapes, ensuring that the wire helps maintain these shapes.
Allow the noodle pieces to cool and harden in their new twisted forms.
Cover any areas of the noodles you want to remain pink with painter’s tape.
Spray paint the exposed surfaces of the noodle pieces with black spray paint in a well-ventilated area. Apply multiple coats if necessary, allowing each coat to dry fully.
Once the paint is dry, remove any painter's tape to reveal contrasting pink accents as desired.
Mount the finished pieces onto your deck railing by twisting the wire ends around the existing railing structure. Adjust as necessary for a secure fit.

Variations & Tips
For a more subdued look, consider using pool noodles in a different color, such as grey or black, before applying the spray paint. This will create a more traditional wrought iron appearance. Alternatively, try experimenting with metallic spray paints like silver or bronze to achieve different metal-like finishes. For added durability and weather resistance, consider applying a clear coat over the paint. You can also explore different twisting techniques to vary the designs further, making each accent piece unique.
