50 ft green garden hose
Textured black rubber mat (6 ft x 6 ft)
Electric drill with small drill bit (1/16 inch)
Garden hose connector
Waterproof adhesive or strong zip ties
Scissors or utility knife
Tape measure
Pencil or chalk for marking
Directions
Lay the textured black rubber mat flat in your desired outdoor area.
Coil the garden hose on top of the rubber mat, starting from the center and spiraling outward.
Using a pencil or chalk, mark spots on the hose where you want the water to spray. Space them evenly, approximately 6 inches apart.
Carefully drill small holes (1/16 inch) at each marked spot on the hose, ensuring you do not drill through both sides.
Secure the hose to the rubber mat using waterproof adhesive or strong zip ties. Ensure the hose is tightly coiled and adheres well to the mat.
Attach the garden hose connector to one end of the hose, and connect it to your water source.
Test the splash pad by turning on the water. Adjust the water pressure to achieve the desired spray height.
Trim any excess hose with scissors or a utility knife, ensuring a neat finish.
Variations & Tips
For a more vibrant splash pad, consider using a colored garden hose to add a pop of color. To increase durability, opt for a heavy-duty rubber mat or reinforce the hose connections with additional adhesive. Add a timer to the water source for automatic on/off functionality, conserving water and providing convenience. For customization, experiment with different spray patterns by adjusting the hole spacing or size, creating varied water effects to enhance the fun and appeal of the splash pad.
